The "Age of Augustus" was a period of tremendous building activity particularly in the Campus Martius. Here Augustus built his own mausoleum, a monumental horologium (sundial), the Ara Pacis (Temple of Peace) and the Ustrinum. Augustus built a new aqueduct, the Aqua Alsietina, specifically to deliver water to the new Naumachia (Water Theater) that he built in the Transtiberim. Agrippa, his adopted son, built the Pantheon and the Baths of Agrippa, which were served by a new aqueduct - the Aqua Virgo - also built by Agrippa. He also built the Aqua Julia and restored the other aqueducts as well as many sewers, fountains and drains.
