Trajan was responsible for extensive additions to Rome's water infrastructure. He sponsored construction of a new aqueduct, the Aqua Traiana, which brought water from Lago Bracciano to the Transtiberim. It terminated on the top of the Janiculum hill. Another branch may have led to the Mons Vaticanus (Vatican Hill) in order to deliver water to his new Naumachia Traiana, an outdoor water theater. The aqueduct also provided water to his new Thermae Traiani (Baths of Trajan) located on the opposite side of the city on the Oppian hill next to the Thermae Titi. The Sette Sale (a castellum) was constructed nearby to supply water to the baths. Other important architectural works sponsored by Trajan include the Forum and Markets of Trajan.
